Knabe QRS Player Grand

$14,000.00

Showroom viewings available!

This Knabe KN-500 baby grand piano measures 5 feet in length and 4 feet 10 inches in width, making it a great option for anyone looking for a high-quality grand in a compact size. It has a smooth, responsive action and a warm, singing tone that feels surprisingly full for a smaller instrument.

This particular piano, serial number G108959, was manufactured in South Korea by Samick Musical Instruments, likely in the early 2000s, during a time when Samick was producing Knabe-branded pianos under license in their state-of-the-art facilities. These pianos were well-regarded for offering a balance of classic Knabe tone with modern reliability — blending American design heritage with Korean precision craftsmanship.

Wm. Knabe & Co. was founded back in 1837 in Baltimore, Maryland, and for decades, they were considered one of the finest piano makers in the U.S. They were a favorite among 19th-century musicians and composers — Tchaikovsky, Saint-Saëns, and Dvořák all played Knabe pianos when performing in America.

By the late 20th century, the Knabe name was acquired by Samick, one of the largest piano manufacturers in the world. Samick took Knabe’s legacy seriously, incorporating classic features like warm voicing and solid cabinetry, while using more modern manufacturing techniques. The KN-500 model is part of that era — designed to bring out the rich, singing tone Knabe was known for, but in a smaller, more accessible size.

QRS Pianomation System – Live Music at the Touch of a Button

One of the standout features of this Knabe baby grand is its fully integrated QRS Pianomation player system, which transforms this traditional acoustic piano into a self-playing instrument while preserving its classic feel. With the QRS system, you don’t just get background music; you get a live acoustic performance any time you want, without ever touching the keys yourself. The system uses discreet solenoids installed beneath the keys and pedals that physically move them, so the music you're hearing is coming directly from the piano, real strings, real hammers, and real sound, not from speakers. And don’t worry, the system won’t interfere with your playing; you can use the piano just like a regular instrument anytime!

Controlling the system is also incredibly easy and modern. You can operate the entire piano wirelessly from your phone, tablet, or computer. There are no discs, control boxes, or complicated remotes; just open the app, choose a song, and your piano starts playing. The app gives you access to a massive library of over 18,000 songs, spanning everything from classical masterpieces and jazz standards to pop hits, worship songs, holiday music, and movie themes. Best of all, this extensive collection is updated regularly, so your piano always has fresh new music to enjoy. You can stream individual pieces or create playlists to suit any mood or event, whether it’s a quiet evening at home or a lively family gathering. :)
