About Rockafellow Piano

Over 50 Years and still counting!

It all started back in 1972, where Keith Rockafellow first learned the art of piano technology, piano tuning, and piano restoration. Keith would care for every customer's pianos with good knowledge, treating each one with respect and care as if it were his own! What began as a personal dream soon became something much greater. Through years of dedication and hard work he founded our business to where we are today.

1980: First Storefront

By 1980, the business had grown into a proper small storefront in the small town of Iron Mountain, Michigan, where Rockafellow Piano would have many pianos for sale. From everything to beautiful uprights, to stunning grands, Rockafellow Piano quickly became known as the go-to music store and piano service in Iron Mountain.

Growth Through Generations

With the help of friends and family members, the business continued to expand and thrive. Rockafellow Piano became known for more than just selling great instruments. It was a trusted name for piano tuning, repairs, and full restorations. Every piano that came through our doors received the same care and attention we’ve given since day one.

1995: A New Chapter in San Antonio

In 1995 Keith's son, Danny Rockafellow, moved the family trade south to San Antonio, Texas, and carried on the family business, opening Rockafellow Piano's doors right here in the heart of the Lone Star State. What started with a few spinet pianos in the living room quickly grew into a full operation. From church clients and private homes to large player grands and full restorations, Rockafellow Piano became a trusted name in the San Antonio music scene.

Rockafellow Piano Today

Today, Rockafellow Piano is proud to still be family-owned and operated, right here in San Antonio. Danny Rockafellow, who brought the business to Texas in 1995, continues to service the Hill Country, and now he’s passing down everything he’s learned to his son, Daniel Rockafellow, the third generation of Rockafellow piano technicians.

Together, they handle everything from everyday tunings and repairs to full restorations and sales. Whether it's an upright in a family living room or a grand on a church stage, every piano is given the same level of care and respect. Even after more than 50 years, the heart of the business hasn’t changed. We still believe in treating every customer like family. Rockafellow Piano isn’t a big retail store; we are quite the opposite. We're a local, family-run business based out of our home in the amazing city of San Antonio.
